When Your Mouth Gets You in Trouble
You know Preachers say God gives them their sermon’s message first and then it goes out to the audience. Well, I know that’s the case for me. I preached a sermon for my home congregation on “War of Wars: Flesh vs Spirit” and, let me say, it was intense…preparing for it. I found all the ways in which I am like the Apostle Paul in the Christian Bible and struggle with living in the Spirit while my flesh rises up and wants to take over. I mean, just this morning my sister challenged us in her 40 Day Tone of Voice Tone Down and before the sun could rise, I lost this challenge.
Today’s message was James 1:19-20 NKJV: “So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.”
How much more plain and simple can the Word get? My problem is that I just can’t let someone else have their opinion. I can’t just let them speak without interrupting with my thought. It frustrates people to no end. I am grateful for challenges like 40 Days Tone of Voice Tone Down which give me the opportunity to change my way of living life with others.
